The First New Year's Eve in the New House

Well, we did it. We pulled off a party before the end of 2010! It took four days of dedicated cleaning, but the house was ready for our annual gala celebrating New Year's Eve around the globe.

It was quite an adventure getting the house ready for the party. The dust is just insidious around here. But the first floor came together amazingly well. The kitchen worked and looked great. The living room and club room were reasonably decorated.

In the dining room, guests could view before, during and after shots from the long construction project - something the Renovators' Report followers are still waiting on...

Even the library was in good shape and pinch hit as a club house for the youngsters among us where they bounced and wrestled on an air mattress and kept half an eye on "Elf."

To both celebrate our progress and acknowledge the work we have left to do, we allowed our guests to endorse the kitchen, signing the wall above the counter where there will be backsplash someday. Bryan kicked off the inking with an appropriate message:

  1. FYI, blogger has a really easy way to format links -- you should see the icon above the text box. Just highlight the text, click that icon, and paste the URL.

Or I can do it here: Look! Timelapse!

Also, when I read this: "In the dining room, guests could view before, during and after shots from the long construction project - something the Renovators' Report followers are still waiting on..." I thought "shots" referred to the hourly shots of alcohol lined up on the table with the map. Shows where my head was ... and is ...
