Shoveling the roof - no snow blower there!

Though we have often wondered if it would be easier if our barn just collapsed under its own weight so we could rebuild a nicer one, we still have a lot of possessions stored in there (not to mention the new snowblower), so for now, we would prefer it remain standing.

As such, last night we found ourselves climnbing an alumnium ladder during a blizzard to shovel off the flat roof of the building. The wind and blowing snow was impressive. However, I must say that it was sort of peaceful to look down at the rest of the property all covered in snow and look back at the house, which had begun to look like an ice castle. The rolling white drifts made it hard to visualize any sign of construction. It was very nice.

We got to shoveling the roof, taking care not to puncture the roof or really even touching it with our shovels. It was a much easier job than we expected, and we were soon done. Now we needed only to worry about wind taking the building down. But it has stood for a long time and seen far worse.

Cassie thoroughly enjoyed watching us up there as she bound through the snow like a deer. You would think this dog is a husky the way she loves the snow. Good news for us as she will sleep like a rock all week.
