Hello followers!
If you are still following this blog, congratulations! I appreciate you all hanging in there. I have really not hung in there on this blog. My sister-in-law recently said that I should have used it as therapy instead of seeing it as reliving the trials and tribulations. She is probably right. I think I may have gotten too caught up in trying to get pictures up here. In any case, there are still stories to be told, so I am going to try to keep at it.
We seem to have survived our first blizzard on the "farm." It started snowing yesterday around noon and by 4 it was a blizzard. Luckily, we came to our senses on Christmas night and decided that we simply had too much pavement to move snow with a shovel and also had too many beautiful Rhodies that would be jeopardized by a plow. So, we went out yesterday morning and fought for one of the last snow blowers in the state. It isn't the biggest, but is by far not the smallest.
And what a difference a snow blower makes. That thing cleared out our driveway like a pro. We have plenty of parking for our New Year's Eve party and can even get to our back barn. We had to learn by trial and error, and therefore ate a lot of snow in the process. But after three passes (5PM, 11PM and this morning) we are open for business.
I have to admit, I am loving owning power equipment and clearing my driveway. But there is an old email forward floating around in cyber space that tells the story of a city guy who moves to VT to enjoy the country. He enjoyed snowblowing too - the first couple of times. I think he ends up in a high rise at the end of the story... But that's a different blog.
Stay tuned for some before and after pictures and some more funny recap stories.
