Permit.
What a funny word.
It can be used as a synonym for "allow" as in "Permit me to ask a silly question, but why have you not started construction on your house yet?"
Or 'permit' can also be used to mean an obstacle, a menace or a weapon when it comes in the form of a small orange piece of paper that you need for your front window in order to PERMIT construction.
For all of you that eagerly logged on to follow the progress at our latest project only to be disappointed in our apparent lack of follow up, PERMIT us to be beg your forgiveness. It seems that we are mired in bureaucratic muck. So stay tuned, as the house falls apart around us and our nerves fray to their breaking point, we hope to announce our construction start in the next several days.
If not, prepare for a story on the evening news about a Honda Accord plunging through the first story of a home in a small town just South of Boston.
One way or the other, demo is starting!
